"I am not exaggerating when I say that I have spent years and thousands of dollars trying to figure out my body. While each expert has given me some insights and improvements, you are connecting all those dots for me. You point out the cues, the bolstering, and I can get immediate results for reduced chronic pain and increased mobility. It is truly fascinating and honestly life changing and you make it simple to understand."

Member 2022 - present

You want to age actively. You want to prepare for retirement, travel, engaging with grandchildren. You want to maintain your lifestyle and independence. Restorative Exercise is perfect for those looking to restore, improve or maintain skills of daily living. This membership is for you.

Hi! I’m Carol Robbins, founder of Alignment REScue, an online course and membership platform. I have been teaching movement since 1999, first as a Pilates teacher, switching to Restorative Exercise in 2013 till present. I am Nutritious Movement™ certified Restorative Exercise Specialist (RES-CPT) and BoneFit Canada trained for osteoporosis/osteopenia.

I've taught many Move Your DNA weekends and Dynamic Aging workshops, mentored RES students as Nutritious Movement™ staff, assisted Katy Bowman at Dynamic Aging retreats and studied advanced RE courses.

I give my clients hope and positive encouragement to navigate their challenges with the help of someone who has been in their shoes! I currently study with DPT Ryan Foley of IKN and incorporate much of what I'm learning in my work.

In my spare time I like walking and hiking (photos on this page were taken on Vancouver Island). I reside in Toronto with my husband and three cats. Fun facts: I'm working on a book about Bunions! I wear minimals shoes and sleep on the floor!

Frequently Asked Questions

The classes/recordings take place completely on this website. Once you sign up, you get immediate access to the recorded library and live classes. The cost is $21.99 CAD per month, inclusive. Billing is automatic when your subscription is due. You can cancel at any time and retain access until your scheduled renewal date. I have made the process as easy as possible for those who are less technically inclined! Support is only an email away. The live class takes place on Thursdays at 9:30am Eastern and are uploaded shortly after for you to take at your convenience. I suggest trying it out for a month! What have you got to lose?

The membership includes one 1-hour long live class per week. It includes access to the previously recorded classes from all the way back from 2022 to the present. You can bounce around, or start at the beginning to get a real education!
As well, you will have access to the monthly coaching call. We meet each month for 1.5 hrs to talk at length and in detail about issues that come up during our movement practice. Sometimes we talk about specific themes, such as scoliosis or bone density, etc.
There is an on site community feature, much like a Facebook group - but with no need for a Facebook account! You can message me privately, ask questions, post links and videos and just chat with other members here.

You can access a (rare) certified and experienced RES from anywhere in the world! Women from all over US/CAN and EU attend class.
Download the App to your phone/tablet to take classes on vacation or to the cottage to maintain your practice. Come to class in your pyjamas, with your grandkids/dogs (camera on or off!).
If you are coming down with a cold - you don't need to miss class worrying about spreading germs. You are welcome to come to part of class, hang out and listen or try a few things if you are under the weather.
You can take the recorded class whenever you have the time and repeat your favourite classes.
If you are shy/introverted like I am, sometimes the online experience is easier. You can participate as much or as little as you like.

Sometimes I do wish I could be in the room with you. Since I'm not, you'll need to be able to work independently, getting up and down from the floor is a physical requirement. I build time in before and after each class for chat time - where we sit down and discuss what's happening with us that day, what special requirements might we need in class. With my years of experience, I can then come up with a plan to accommodate you in the moment. After class we make time to chat about how it went and this helps me plan the best program for you! (This before/after time is not recorded, so you can feel comfortable.)
Although many people prefer a live class experience, working online allows me to reach so many people I couldn't help before! I love it!

Members are at various stages of life with a variety of health and fitness challenges. Classes include bolstering suggestions and modifications, and exercises are scaled to easily regress/progress as appropriate. We chat before and after class so you can get advice on best practices. There are classes in the library that address specific issues. Frankly, if you wait until you are "perfect" to start classes, you will never start! I expressly made this membership to accommodate every body at every level. I personally have taught classes with a leg cast on, and have had members attend with various injuries that I am able to work "around" to keep the rest of the body moving! Of course the choice is yours, but don't hestitate to join if you aren't currently in fighting shape! The purpose of the membership is to meet you where you are and lift you up.

I have clients who are in their 30s and those older than 70. The age range is a suggestion and it depends on what your objectives are. Some people use this as their main movement practice, while others use it as a way to check in and keep injuries to a minimum. Some use it to work on skills that serve as prevention for ailments common in aging such as balance, and the ability to get up and down different ways. Sometimes we don't realize what we're missing until we are shown, and that can be very helpful to offset issues that can crop up later. I do request that this membership be a women-only space where we can feel comfortable talking about our issues.

Since you will be moving in your own home, I suggest making a dedicated space with room for a mat, space to move your arms and legs, a few items which you might already have (or can sub with common household items). Equipment can include: Mat, half dome, blocks, blankets, bolsters. Wear comfortable clothes and socks or bare feet. I suggest setting up beside a wall for balance. We often use a wall for exercises.
You'll need the internet of course, and make sure your computer/tablet is plugged in when taking live class to avoid surprises! Classes take place over zoom but are held right on the member website. You will get a link to the live class when you join.

I am BoneFit Canada trained and give modifications in class for those with this diagnosis. The older classes in the library might not have this so it's important that you know your limitations. It's helpful to know the areas of the spine or body that have low bone density and if you've had previous fractures and where. I am always happy to help you if you aren't sure about a movement or exercise. Since my classes are made for active agers, balance is a priority in the work and Restorative Exercise is well known to benefit the requirements of those with osteoporosis with a focus on biomechanics and optimizing loads.

Yes! I have a full membership available for those with prior experience. The full membership is open to those who have previous experience, teachers of RE/Yoga/Pilates, and those ready for more! Get in touch for that membership (available by invitation). The Foundations of RE membership is open to everyone and is a perfect starting point if you don't already have this background.
